At night the camera moves up a brick apartment block, past dark windows, toward the one lit window. Inside, the person from the photo sits at a small table holding a burger in both hands, takes a bite and stares straight into the camera without looking away. Then they stand up and pull a dark curtain across the window. The scene, room, burger, camera move and sound are built in; users only choose the photo and the look. ## The trend The window peeper format spread on TikTok and CapCut in late October 2026. Remixes are often captioned along the lines of "Try this filter yourself" and tagged #windowpeeper. "Burger Thru Window" is the name of a popular CapCut template for the same scene. Who posted the first clip is not clearly documented. There is no official window peeper filter on TikTok or Instagram. The trend is staged: filming real people through their windows invades privacy and can be illegal. ## Photo One adult alone in the frame, face clearly visible and looking toward the camera, waist-up or seated, even light, no heavy filters, nothing covering the face.
